Beastie Boys Anthology Review

An interesting use of developing music distribution technology -- offering the end user the opportunity to program their very own Beastie Boys best-of, selecting from a catalog of album cuts, singles, remixes, B-sides, and rarities. The resulting possibilities are endless, with some oddball running orders being likely -- it's also possible to do this several times in a row to accumulate a custom-made version of the entire catalog. The end product sounds fairly good, indicating that the company is using uncompressed sound files in the manufacturing process. Probably not ideal for the casual Beasties fan, but a fascinating process that hints at the coming changes in music distribution in the 21st century. ~ Steven McDonald, All Music Guide
