Greatest Hits Review

In mid-2002, for reasons unclear, LandSpeed Records supplanted their own excellent Best of Cold Chillin' volume covering Biz Markie with the shorter Greatest Hits. It, too, covers all of the Biz's seminal hits -- "Nobody Beats the Biz," "Make the Music With Your Mouth, Biz," "Vapors," "Just a Friend" -- but misses out on some great early material. The only reason to recommend Greatest Hits over The Best of Cold Chillin' is the tacking of Biz Markie's 2001 comeback single, "Turn tha Party Out" -- though it's also on the turn-back-the-clock various-artists compilation Superrappin', Vol. 2. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
