Crimson Review

Sentenced's Frozen was a slight disappointment for their older fans: the complete sound was poppy and whole record seemed to be just a drunken side-project. Unfortunately, Crimson continues Frozen's way and even further. Sound has been simplified and songs are more depressive. So there's no chance of Sentenced's return to Down or even to Amok. Still, Crimson is not a complete failure. Despite that it sounds like a bad copy of Type O Negative, it has its moments. The first single of Crimson, "Killing Me Killing You," is a very fine song, thought Sentenced have been accused of selling their souls to pop music with that song. Also there are some tracks that don't follow the theme of Crimson. "Broken" and "Dead Moon Rising" sound actually more like Amok than Crimson. But thought, the rest of Crimson don't. Therefore Crimson can get Sentenced new audience from pop music, but definitely not from heavy metal. ~ Antti J. Ravelin, All Music Guide
