Back N Tha Day is one of many budget-priced compilations of Dr. Dre's early, pre-NWA material, but it is different than the rest. Instead of relying on Dre's occasonally awkward old-school material, the compilation consists entirely of mid-'90s remixes of his old-school recordings, adding two previously unreleased tracks as enticement for hardcore fans. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
