After The Goldrush
01/01/1970 3:00 AM, LAUNCH Dave DiMartino
Young's joining Crosby, Stills & Nash suddenly put him in the public eye; his response, perhaps understandably, was this album, released the same year as was Deja Vu. Often acoustic and folkish--on tracks such as "Tell Me Why" and "Birds"--and sometimes rocking, as on his famous "Southern Man," this is a varied-sounding but very solid album. In all: entirely representative of the many sides of Neil Young.
