Rap Life
11/23/1999 3:00 AM, LAUNCH Jon Wallace
Heads on the West Coast have known for years the skills and rhyming ability of Tha Alkaholiks, but the public at large has slept on the "Hip Hop Drunkies" for their past three albums. Now Tash has decided it's the time to step away from his Likwit brethren to release his solo project, Rap Life. But rest assured, Tha Liks have not broken up and there is no beef between them.
Rap Life is proof that Tash is one of the illest MCs around. With an array of guest stars like Raekwon, Outkast, B-Real, Kurupt, and fellow Likwit member Xzibit, Tash will definitely get noticed, though he's well capable of holding it down by himself. The appeal of his nasal, rapid-fire flows can be witnessed on "Nightfall," "Ricochet," and "Bermuda Triangle." The album's production is a little bit more bouncy than on Tha Alkaholiks' projects, but don't worry, it's still tight and true to the underground.
Tash delivers something that few MCs can give to the people--pure hip-hop satisfaction. When was the last time you had that?
